Log Tag TRED Refrigeration Monitor

Global Sensors recognized a significant need in temperature monitoring: a practical solution for longer term monitoring of refrigerated spaces providing immediate data details visible on the face of the logger itself.

TRED30 shows a day by day report of temperature conditions for the last 30 days. All data is stored, and a “time and attendance” feature is provided to show that the recorder was checked by personnel for continued temperature safety. All records become documentary when downloaded to software and stored.

TRED has the same form factor as other LogTag units, so it is easy to deploy.

We apologize for claiming that there is absolutely nothing like the TRED logger, but then, it is true.

TRED30-7 Temperature Logger

The LogTag TRED30-7 temperature recorder features a display together with a data logging function storing up to 7770 temperature readings. Statistical temperature and duration readings for up to 30 days can be reviewed on the display.

Users can review the events of the last thirty days by using button presses that change the display to indicated alarms, averages, maximum and minimum temperatures and the timing of significant temperature events.

The visual display of current temperature and previous alarms is an important feature in “static” applications such as cold rooms, refrigerated warehouses and refrigerators.

The TRED30-7 can also be used in long distance transit applications where a direct readout of the statistical data is required without use of a computer or readout device. The display arrangement is designed to show ‘at a glance’ if temperature violations have occurred during the current day and up to the previous 29 days.

The display also shows the current temperature reading, the current time, recording status and battery status. If a reading outside the pre-set “Alarm” limits is recorded at any time, a “day alarm indicator” appears on the display.

A visual alarm is displayed if one or more of the pre-configured alarm “trigger conditions” have been met. An alarm trigger condition can be a single reading above the upper or below the lower threshold values, a set of consecutive out-of-range readings or a cumulative set of readings that add up to an alarm condition.

Alarm details can be checked directly by inspecting the statistics history on the recorder’s display or in more detail by downloading the logged data. TRED30-7 data can be downloaded via a standard LogTag Interface to the free companion software LogTag Analyzer. The software provides views of the data in chart, table or statistical formats and allows electronic archiving, export or transmission of the data in support of sophisticated data management systems.

TRED30-7 can be configured to suspend processing of readings for alarms and max/min statistics for a period of time after button press activity. This allows the user to review the current statistics or clear an alarm without causing a false alarm or statistic while handling the recorder.

Two different battery options are available:

  • TRED30-7R : Equipped with user replaceable battery (CR2032) with typical battery life of 1 year.
  • TRED30-7F : Fixed cell (non user replaceable) with battery life of 2-3 years.

Like all LogTag recorders, temperature accuracy is unmatched, providing a “true” ±0.5°C accuracy in the critical recording range. Most recorders claim this level of performance, but do not hold 100% of their product within those stated limits. TRED30-7 does. It is a recording device that, with valid performance statistics, delivers known accuracy as a standard feature.

TRED30-7 is a sophisticated data collection platform in a very small package. A comprehensive set of functions are visible using the LCD display making it possible to implement a monitoring program with little or no software involvement.

External Probe Options

In certain cases, it is more convenient to monitor refrigeration units with an external probe. The TRED30 (external probe version of the TRID30) is exactly the same in all specifications, except that it incorporates the feature of an external probe.

The unit can be deployed on the outside of a refrigerated chamber or refrigerator used for storage of various items. Temperatures can be reviewed directly from the unit itself without the need to open the door to the refrigerated space.

This is not only more efficient, but it allows for removal of the unit without un-installation of the probe and probe cable, which can be integrated with the refrigeration equipment.

Another advantage is the possibility of using the probe for measurement of conditions inside of stored containers of liquid or any other application that can have a probe put into it.

The probes used are standard LogTag probes. Here below are the options for the TRED30-7:

External probe option A: cable with short tip probe.
Cable length options: 1.5 meters (4’11”) or 3 meters (9’10”).
Fits standard receptacle in all external probe LogTag units.
External probe option B: cable with penetration probe tip without a handle.
Cable length options: 1.5 meters (4′ 11″) or 3 meters (9″10″).Fits standard receptacle in all external probe LogTag units.
ST100T
External probe option C: cable with penetration probe tip with a handle.
Cable length options: 1.5 meters (4′ 11″) or 3 meters (9’10”).
Fits standard receptacle in all external probe LogTag units.

TRED30-7 Screen Functions

In the illustration above, you can see various functions of the LCD screen. In each screen, the “RECORDING” message shows that the unit is running. The battery icon in the upper right corner verifies good battery status. All screens show alarm triggers recorded 1,8, 20, 21 and 26 days ago.

Screen 1 is a current “today” display and shows the time and the CURRENT indication. Current temperature is 4.0°C The ALARM indication shows that an alarm occurred during the current day. Repeated pressing of the Review button displays statistics for the day: Screen 2 shows a maximum temperature of 4.5°C. Screen 3 shows 1.5°C minimum temperature for the period.

Continued scrolling takes the review back one day (the day you are on is indicated by flashing of the “day of the month” icons on the screen. One day prior to the current day is shown in Screens 4 and 5, above. Note that in Screen 4, the max alarm was triggered as indicated by the ALARM display and ▲MAX indicator. The screen shows 2″30 Hours in excess of 12.5°C. Screen 5 simply shows the MIN reading, which did not trigger an alarm.

As the user scrolls back through the prior days, the “day of the month” icons sequentially disappear from the screen.
